Venous Ulcerations

Michael Manning - Sunday, November 06, 2011

Venous ulcers are non healing sores that are typically located just above the ankle. They represent the most severe form of lower extremity venous disease. They occur because high venous pressures (venous hypertension) within certain leg veins interfere with the nutrition of the skin just above the ankle.

We have been able to effectively treat many patients with venous ulcers by using the endovenous laser to destroy the veins that are the source of the ulcer. Most ulcers then heal within 2 to 3 weeks and rarely recur. Patients with venous ulcers are fun to treat because their results are so dramatic. The quality of their lives is significantly improved and they are among the most grateful patients we treat.

We are now in our new clinic.

Michael Manning - Tuesday, August 30, 2011
We are now in our new clinic located off of Highland Colony Parkway in Madison, MS. It is a state of the art outpatient facility that specializes in the treatment of varicose veins, spider veins, and venous ulcerations. It is truly the first of its kind in the state. Our staff is highly experienced and has successfully treated thousands of patients from all over Mississippi and the surrounding states. Our new clinic will allow us to deliver an even higher standard of excellence for our patients.

New Building

Michael Manning - Monday, August 08, 2011
The new home for MS Vein Institute in Madison is almost ready. The asphalt for the parking lot was laid today and we will be moving in within 2 weeks. The building will be the first of its kind in the state......a free standing medical facility dedicated to the outpatient treatment of varicose veins, spider veins, and venous ulcerations. The building has turned out even better than my expectations. It is a true reflection of my team's commitment to excellence. We will be having an open house in the Fall to showcase the facility.

We have done over 2,000 procedures using the CoolTouch Endovenous Laser system. The endovenous laser is used to treat the underlying source of varicose veins. The existing varicose veins are removed thru micro incisions and any associated spider veins are cleared using modern sclerotherapy agents. We are able to attain fantastic results for our patients by combining all 3 techniques during a single treatment session.

My team at MS Vein Institute takes great pride in what we do. They have all been hand picked and to say they are the best of the best is no exaggeration. They are the "magic" that sets MS Vein Institute apart. Your experience and your results at MS Vein Institute will be beyond compare.

Telluride phlebology conference

Michael Manning - Saturday, January 29, 2011
Scarlette and I spent the last 3 days in Telluride, CO attending a vein conference. The conference was hosted by Dr. John Kingsley. I did my vein training with Dr. Kingsley at the Alabama Vascular and Vein Center in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Kingsley invites some of the top vein physicians from around the country to discuss topics relevant to the practice of phlebology. The meeting is particularly good because it involves physicians with some of the largest vein practices in the country sitting around a conference table and basically talking shop. This was my second year to be invited to the conference and I have never been to a better one. There is no question that every patient coming to Mississippi Vein will benefit from my yearly association with this incredibly talented group of physicians.

New Madison Building

Michael Manning - Monday, January 03, 2011
Our new clinic in Madison is now under construction. The building is framed up and we should be "dried in" by the end of this month. The building is 8000 square feet. Mississippi Vein will occupy the first floor and our new aesthetic and medical weight loss business will be on the second floor. The building will be a state of the art medical facility but with an upscale spa feel to it. We want our patients to have a treatment experience like no other.

Problematic leg veins can be more than a physical problem.

Michael Manning - Tuesday, July 06, 2010
Varicose veins and spider veins can cause a host of physical problems but they can also affect how people live their lives. I have seen countless patients who haven't worn shorts or skirts for years because they are embarrassed by the appearance of their legs. They have missed pool parties and passed on beach trips for the same reason. The emotional component of problematic leg veins is often overlooked but it is just as important as the physical component. There is nothing more rewarding for my team at Mississippi Vein than to help change a patient's life for the better. Our successful treatment of varicose veins and spider veins can truly be a life changing event for a patient. The transformation in a patient's life can be incredible. They become more social, begin working out, and wear clothes they haven't considered in years.

Once a patient completes their vein treatments at Mississippi Vein, we mail them their before and after photos. We take great pride in the outward results we are able to get for our patients but I am most proud of the inward results. When a patient tells me how their life has changed for the better because of our treatments, it is a truly rewarding experience.

Our Goals at Mississippi Vein

kim maxwell - Friday, April 30, 2010

I started Mississippi Vein 2 years ago to establish a high quality medical practice that specialized in the treatment of spider veins, varicose veins, and venous ulcerations. The practice has grown every month since its inception. I attribute that growth to 3 things:

  • First and foremost is our absolute commitment to achieving the kind of results that make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
  • Second is the uniquely personable approach we take while caring for our patients.
  • Third is the incredible team that makes up Mississippi Vein.
Our goal is to make the overall experience at Mississippi Vein truly exceptional for our patients. A fantastic result is our expectation but what sets Mississippi Vein apart is the process of achieving that result. The tone of our clinic is relaxed, friendly, and accommodating. Our aim is to make coming to Mississippi Vein more like visiting old friends than simply coming to a medical clinic. I hope you choose to come see us at Mississippi Vein and let our team help you rediscover the legs you once knew.
